I just got these “vacation packing tips” from some email list I’m on and am left a bit puzzled…
THE MAIN SUITCASES:
Personal 2-way radios (I guess for those hikes in the woods??)
Zip-Lock bags/garbage bags, A nightlight (wait - if we take a nightlight, I guess we are not hiking)
flip flops/water shoes, socks/white tennis shoes (Exacly WHY must the tennis shoes be white?)
Kids shoes, shorts, tees, socks underwear, warm clothes PJ’s, bathing suits, sunhats, 1.5 outfits per day of vacation plus 2 warm outfits and warm hats (I just wonder WHERE these people are going where they need bathing suits, sunhats AND warm hats??)
Diaper rash ointment, Diapers, Wipes,Sippy Cups, Bottles, Insulated mug, Pack n’ Play, Double Stroller
Shovel and pails for kids (Again, shovels and pail…but yet you need warm hats??)
Specialty food items: Rice Milk, Soy yogurts, Formula etc. (Where are the twizzlers, peanuts and M&Ms?)
Mom’s Stuff
night gowns/robe purses (daytime & evening) pantyhose/knee-high stockings bras/panties/slips swimsuits/cover-up, Teva Sandals, lotion, lip gloss, white shorts/white slacks/two blouses or polo shirts (PANTYHOSE and KNEE-HIGH stockings?? Are you KIDDING me? And notice it said TEVA sandals…interesting and WHITE shorts and slacks - I guess to go with the WHITE tennis shoes?)
Jewelry, toiletries, hair dryer, curling iron, brushes, shampoos (at least mom will look lovely with her brushed and curled hair)
Dad’s List:
Clothing, Shoes (Socks Optional),Day Wear, Tee Shirts or Polo Shirts, Shorts, Swim wear , Tennis shoes & socks, Other Wear, Boxer or Briefs, Sleepwear/Robe, Hat or Cap, Sunglasses, Teva Sandels, knock around shorts and t-shirts (Sure, mom needs stockings but socks are optional for dad? Oh, but he gets “knock around shorts” What the heck are “knock around shorts”?)
Shaving Kit , Sunglasses – Sunglasses covers (notice this is missing from mom’s list?)
Swiss Army Knife, Travel Clock, Short, Multi-Plug Extension Cord, Strapping Tape/Duct Tape, Cable Ties (Yes, all those “manly” things)
Book to read (again, mysteriously missing from mom’s list - guess she will be too busy chasing the kids while dad reads on the beach/snow covered mountain)
Seriously, who is this family and where are they going?
That was so stinking funny! We’re going on a big TX/KS trip in June, and I’m actually in “what to pack” mode. I almost forgot my 2-way radios!

Ha ha, that is so funny! I have to post my “travel advisory” for Denmark that I received when I booked my flight to go home this summer… “There is no malaria in Denmark”
It’s a great idea actually, I will copy you on this!
Now I know why you can spot the American tourists by their white tennis shoes and white socks in Europe

[...] 15, 2008 Travel advisory for Denmark Posted by petchie under European travels I just read a funny post on Michele’s blogon what to pack for a holiday, and it made me think of the so-called travel advisory that I received when I had finally managed to book my ticket to go home in June… I understand that this advice can be important for some travellers, especially if you are going to an exotic, unknown country but I guess as somebody who travelled to Denmark for the first time at the age of 10 months, it seems a little ridiculous! By the way I think my first trip to Denmark was kind of late considering that it was just a 20-minute ferry-ride away. We went from Helsingborg to Helsingör and I have a photo from the ferry crossing - I was very cute in a red dress and a white scarf on my head, probably the most stylish travel clothes I have ever worn  [...]

Ahhhhh…. Riiiighhhht.
This family must not be up to date on current travel/luggage restrictions.
Each passenger is allowed ONE checked luggage (50 lbs. or less). Each aditional luggage will have a $25 fee. (This is for DOMESTIC flights. International may have TWO bags under the allowed weight) If you pass the allowed weight per bag there is an ADITIONAL fee. HAPPY TRAVELS EVERYONE!!! ;p
So why does the dad get the S.A. knife?

[...] I am going to spend 1,5 months in Europe, mostly in Sweden but also in Barcelona and Zaragoza in Spain, and Brussels - so the packing is difficult to plan! I need city clothes as well as summerhouse wear, and Midsummer’s eve party gear… I should probably try to follow some kind of packing formula such as Michele’s vacation packing tips excluding the diapers and warm hats (I hope at least) [...]
